Glossary

The mouse is an essential component in the list of computer components without which the on screen actions such as opening a file or folder or placing a cursor cannot be done. Nowadays the mouse is available as a touch pad in laptops but the usage of the traditional handy mouse cannot be overthrown, the traditional mice is very much user friendly and makes our hand feel painless even after long hours of work. There are several manufactures for the mice some of them are Logitech, Apple, Microsoft and HP, out of these Logitech is well known manufacturer of computer components whereas others are well known for their computer systems as whole.

Some of the glossary items available with the computer mouse are,

Air mice:
As the name indicates the air mice are those which will work even when there is no surface for the mouse to move. These mice will work by a simple wave in air. They come with a miniature gyroscope for usage in air and optical sensor for the desk usage. All the air mice are wireless.

Apple:
Apple is an international company for the manufacturing of computers and laptops and one such innovation is the magic mouse which is sensitive to multiple touches and also it is connected to the computer via Bluetooth.

Bus mouse:
The bus mouse always requires an adapter card installed in a slot but for this kind of mouse finding an IRQ free is difficult. But going to its functionality, these mice are highly responsive in action but still it is getting harder to find.

Ball Sensor:
These kinds of ball sensors are present in the traditional mouse. Underneath the mice there will be a ball sensitive to the movement of the user. But the difficulty in this mice being that they are less flexible for usage and there is a high possibility that these balls are removed very easily from the mouse.

Cordless Mouse:
As the name specifies no cord is required for its usage. A radio transmitter and receiver are connected to the port of the computer which sends and receives radio waves. The mouse is also embedded with radio transmission and reception. A battery is needed for the working of mouse to handle the reception of radio waves.

Cleaning Mouse:
As the mouse is used on a plain surface it tends to become dirty underneath the mouse. Both for mechanical and optical mouse isopropanol are used for the cleaning purpose.

Double Click:
Microsoft Windows requires the user to double click on a specific folder of file for its opening. The timing between two clicks should be properly set in the control panel because if the click is too fast then it will be treated as a single click or if it’s made too slow then it will be treated as two separate clicks. This click rate can be set in the control panel.

Ergonomics:
Ergonomics is a science of designing equipment according to the sophistication of the worker. Mouse are designed with proper ergonomics so that there will be no stress or strain on the user.

Gaming Mouse:
Logitech is famous for the manufacture of gaming mouse. The gaming mouse comes with dedicated keys for the start and movement of characters in the game. They act similar to the functionality of the joystick.

High Resolution:
High Resolution mice are sold for the purpose of gaming, they provide fine and excellent control especially in paint programs such as mspaint and Paint Shop pro. The resolution varies from low to gamer. If the resolution is 400 dpi then it is low resolution, if 600 dpi it is medium, if 1000 dpi it is high resolution and if it is 1500-2000 dpi it is gamer resolution.

Logitech:
Logitech is a world class manufacturer of computer apparels and they are famous for their wide variety of mouse which is of very good quality. Their mouse comes with good service and warranty validations.

Logitech LX-8 cordless:
It is a high resolution mouse from Logitech, this comes with 5 buttons and is highly sensitive. The wheel helps in providing 2D scrolling mode and also it wags sideways helping horizontal scrolling.

Laser mice:
This is the latest and the greatest innovation where the traditional mouse ball is replaced with laser. Laser is used as it gives more precision then the optical LED. The advantage here is that you can hardly see the laser light.

Mechanical:
Mechanical mouse are the traditional mouse which comes with a rolling rubber ball underneath. This rubber ball rubs the internal rollers and makes them spin. Finally these are measured by a toothed wheel blocking the light beam.

Microsoft:
Microsoft is not only the leading manufacturer of software and operating systems, they are also into the manufacture of hardware equipments such as mouse and keyboard. They produce quality mouse with an extended warranty period and its sales are good just like their software.

Mouse Pad:
The mouse pads are the surfaces over which the mouse are made to move so that they are not hampered by the dust and uneven surfaces. But still the mouse pad requires a change periodically as there is a possibility of scale formation on the mouse pad surface also.

Optical Mouse:
Optical mouse are the widely used mouse variety now. They are provided with an optical LED under the mouse and they are capable of working on any surface unlike mechanical mice.

PS/2:
This is a small round connector which connects the mouse to the PC. They do not require an adaptor card but the mother board should be given with a PS/2 connector.

USB:
This is the most compatible connector for mouse. It is a rectangular shaped connector which does not require an adaptor card. These are famous for the laptops as most of the laptops do not have PS/2 connector.

Zebronics:
Zebronics is well known for its manufacture of computer apparels and they provide goods with very good quality and warranty. Also compared to other manufacturers apparels from Zebronics are cheaper and still offers good quality.
